How were resistance genes detected if no organisms were detected?

Modified on Fri, Dec 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM

PCR technology cannot determine which microbes are expressing the genes detected. PCR will detect resistance genes in microbes even if those particular microbes are not part of the microbiology panel being tested for. This can result in no microbes being detected while resistance genes are detected.
